Lefkes description
Lefkes, situated 11 km from the port of Parikia, surrounded by fields of olive trees (some from an age of 2000 years). On a hillside with a pine tree forest, 300m above the sea level offers Lefkes a breathtaking view to the island of Naxos.
The architecture mix, a historical inheritance, gives to Lefkes a separate charm. Built like an altitude amphitheatre appear typical white washed Cycladic houses combined with Venetian mansions and picturesque dovecotes overlooked along the hillside by ancient windmills. In appreciation to their architectural value the renovation of those wheat mills has started. The church of Aghia Triada built with lucent Parian marble dominates the scenery.
From Lefkes it is, where the famous Byzantine road starts, leading through vine yards and olive groves to the village of Prodromos and further to the sea.
